Breaking the Chain of Low Self Esteem: Tips on Coping
Having low self esteem can cause very significant impacts on your life. You see, having low self esteem usually determines a person's ability to cope with changes in his or her surroundings. A person's self esteem also determines that person's drive to succeed in life.
A person's self esteem also determines his or her ability to communicate with other people. We know that we are social animals, and value communication very highly. Esteem issues may affect a person's ability to reveal the true self. This leads to issues of trust. A person who has low self esteem has troubling trusting anything. He or she would have trouble trusting even his or her own thoughts or ideas.
Low self esteem can act as shackles or chains that bind a person to the ground and keep them from doing what they always want to do. In order for a person to reach his or her full potential, the chains of low self esteem should be broken.
But how exactly does one go about breaking the chain of low self esteem?
Well, this involves some steps. Here are some of the things to do in order to break the chain of low self esteem.
1) Acceptance - We all know that the first step to solving a problem is to admit that you have a problem. In breaking the chain of low self esteem, you need to realize the fact that there is a chain. Without this acceptance, any further steps you take will be in vain.
Acceptance of a problem involves realizing the impacts of it in your life. In order to start breaking the chain of low self esteem you should realize just how much it weighs you down. Acceptance of a problem means that you need to realize that you have something holding you back.
The problem with most people with low self esteem is that they do not really realize that they have low self esteem. Breaking the chain of low self esteem holding them can be quite difficult since they believe that the chain is a normal part of them, and that nothing can ever remove it.
2) Confrontation - The next step in breaking the chain of low self esteem involves a person coming face to face with the problem. This means that they have to:
a) Identify the source - Identifying where you got it is important in breaking the chain of low self esteem. This means that you have to go back and try to found out at what point in time your self esteem began sliding down. By identifying the source of the problem, you will have an easier time getting rid of it.
b) Identify the solution - In order to face the problem correctly, you need to plan ahead and try to identify the solution you need. Breaking the chain of low self esteem can involve different activities from joining a competition to confronting a person from your past. This might serve as the climax for breaking the chain of low self esteem. However, you should know that this is not the last step.
3) Healing - Once you are done with breaking the chain of low self esteem, you have the task of making sure that it stays broken. This means that you must ensure that nothing makes you think any lower of yourself ever again. You should remember that you are good enough as you are and you deserve respect.
